For over 15 years, Kloud9Trizzy has established himself as a local rap artist within Stockton’s growing hip-hop circuit, booking shows and releasing several independent projects before signing to All In-House Entertainment – an entertainment label dedicated to grassroots, innovative, and data-driven methods to launching artists’ careers. The Californian artist’s latest release, “I Am Trizzy”, unpacks all of his warez, and bridges the gap between the essence of the 90’s, the groove of the 2000’s, and the vibes of new wave of modern rap. This project includes “Savor”, Tizzy’s hit single, accompanied by a music video guest starring Michell Lacy of So Lavish Boutique, filmed by Flamingyon, and produced by All In-House Entertainment LLC.
The music on “I Am Trizzy” has an incredible sense of both grittiness and gloss, and fuses these two aesthetics together just as perfectly as many rap artists did back in the day. This EP also really shines with its level of attitude and rhythmic bounce. It is a well-crafted project by the super talented Kloud9Trizzy that holds nothing back. And you get a lot for a project that’s runs for under fifteen minutes.
The EP’s opening track “Gun Case” is a perfect intro that grabs your attention and refuses to let you play anything else until the record is completed in its entirety. The song is catchy with a fascinating bassline and keys that make this cut absolutely addicting. Kloud9Trizzy’s deep and resonant growl dominates the soundscape from beginning to end. His flow is steady but relentless, never even coming up once to breathe.
“Ten Toes (Remix)” is another bastion of banging music with some real heart. Kloud9Trizzy’s is unequivocally at the forefront of it all, impressing us with his singing and rapping. This one is a real earworm.
From the first beat on the track to the handclapping snap on the final bar, the production is perfectly in the groove. Trizzy also diversifies his flows, seemingly gliding over any and every beat he comes up against and creating some genuinely catchy vocal melodies in the process.
“Taking Off” has the pianos and synths sparkling in the mix, while it throws down another woofer-busting bassline. The production is real snappy, imbued with some classic flair. On top, Kloud9Trizzy nonchalantly sings, his crystal clear inflection and pronunciation lending the lyric real pathos.
Without ever being overwhelming or over-complex, Trizzy teases listener’s expectations in his rhyme schemes all over the EP. Especially on “Savor” where he switches up and down often.
In that sense, Kloud9Trizzy’s bars take inspiration from his forefathers, while he still hangs on tightly to his melodically twisted nuancing. Trizzy is on top of his game, keeping the project fresh with every switch-up of his flow and every clever line he spits. He effortlessly matches the mood that the beat creates on each track. Personality, bars, flows, production; everything is top notch on “I Am Trizzy”.
Kloud9Trizzy is an artist that absolutely deserves more recognition and this EP should bring it to him. Overstating just how great the production of this EP is, may be impossible. Alongside the impressive sounds though, Kloud9Trizzy stuffs the bars with a wealth of instantly charming, well-polished rhymes and melodies, which makes for fantastic easy listening. Every part of “I Am Trizzy” feels alive.
