The name Psyco Sid is synonymous with Houston contemporary hip-hop. On May 3rd the lyrical heavyweight is slated to release his highly anticipated project SoKul We Be Vol.1. Sid is bringing the fire back to the rap scene with hits like “Am I” and “H’town” which features Propain and GT Garza.
Throughout the mix-tape in its entirety, Sid’s unequivocal approach to his music is undeniable. Though the project is unreleased Sid has garnered spins on stations throughout the US, most notably on 93.7 in Houston.
What separates SoKul We Be Vol.1 from Sid’s previous works is, he used his environment as motivation to create, and experimented with new sounds to keep things fresh. It’s not uncommon to witness Sid delivering his truth with a boisterous flare; on a few tracks he took a personal approach, allowing his fans to take a peek into the world of Mr. SoKul.
From the track listing, to the imminent features (Cal Wayne, Duke Gutta, J. Sneed, Lil Keke, Dead End Redd, & more), Sid executed this project with precision.
The lead single “Am I” ft. V12 generated an unprecedented buzz with well over 2.4 million plays on Soundcloud alone. The SoKul camp dropped the visual earlier this year; according to youtube it’s at 50k+ views, and that number continues to climb.
SoKul We Be Vol.1 is the perfect example of how Psyco Sid has stayed true to his culture; while simultaneously stepping out of the box to create a lane for himself. You can find the project on here on iTunes.
Psyco Sid is also up for ‘Best Male HipHop Artist’ at the www.godjawards.com He will also be performing at the award show which is really big in Houston.
