La’Cole was born in New York City, at the age of six years old she moved to South Carolina where she grew up. Growing up singing in a church choir La’Cole wrote her first song in middle school. After graduating from high school, she attended Allen University in Columbia, SC where she majored in Psychology / Social Science. In 2011 La’Cole trans-located back to New York City where she started her career as a working Model and Actress ready to take on the world. Since then she has been published in Magazines, Campaigns and numerous Music Videos for well-known artists. She subsequently felt the time was right to present her singer-songwriting skills to the industry, which has now led to her brand new Dancehall flavored single, “Beach Party”.
As multiple genres has moved away from the mainstream and the major label structure over the past decade, many artists have gone under-appreciated and overlooked in the process. Being an independent artist allows for the ultimate creative freedom, but doesn’t always allow for maximum exposure.
As a result, many fans haven’t always been able to easily track down the good music and artists they’ve been yearning for. La’Cole is one of those independent artists who hopefully won’t go under-appreciated. What do we know about La’Cole? Well, she’s fresh and bright, and sounds adorable.
As her new track begins, you’re tuned into its Caribbean groove and La’Cole as your host. She promises to take you for a ride, and that’s certainly how the track plays out. The strength of “Beach Party” is in its high spirited sound, where La’Cole is able to effortlessly mesh contemporary Dancehall with progressive dance production.
She gets trendy at times, but does so tastefully, and only to accentuate where her music is rooted in. La’Cole gets smooth and sensual over the intensely playful groove where she takes her audience into her party zone.
While so many artists struggle to maintain commercial relevancy, and have the quality of their music suffer in the process, perhaps they can look to La’Cole as a blueprint on how to blend the elements of catchy dance music gracefully, without sacrificing anything.
La’Cole seems determined to keep the party moving with “Beach Party”, and she knows how to do it with pure unpretentious entertainment. This is a like a musical funhouse mirror that reflects today’s breadth of enjoyment at a beach party.
“Beach Party” is a fairly easy to relate arrangement, dominated by drums, keys, bass and vocals, which drive the groove, and it feels like this is all that’s needed. This Pop meets Electro-Caribbean music is mainly based around La’Cole’s vocals, and her singing is very well done. Her voice always seems to have the perfect inflection for every line.
La’Cole also shows a clear grasp on the rhythm and beat that makes this genre so much fun and accessible. The song’s forward sense of playful sensuality may be one of the more attention-grabbing aspects of the track, but there are plenty of other things worth noting on it – besides the fact that La’Cole gets the job done beautifully.
