TapWaterz, the paraplegic hip-hop artist, has become a beacon of hope for those who face adversity, using his music to speak out against social injustices and inspire people to never give up. With an impressive resume that includes speaking at the White House, performing at the United Nations, and collaborating with icons such as Snoop Dogg and Stevie Wonder, TapWaterz has solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Despite facing a life-altering tragedy as a teenager, when he was accidentally shot and left paralyzed, TapWaterz refused to let his setbacks define him. He co-founded the 4 Wheel City movement, aimed at creating more opportunities for people with disabilities and combatting gun violence among youth.
TapWaterz’s dedication to making a difference in the world, has led him to speak on the first-ever Recording Academy panel on accessibility “Music Purpose and Community,” attend the first Disability Listening session with Grammy Leadership, and become a founding member of RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities), the leading organization for accessibility and disability inclusion in the music industry.
TapWaterz’s latest single, “Never Take Me Out The Game,” produced by Petrofsky, is a testament to his 24-year journey as a paraplegic rapper. The song celebrates TapWaterz’s survival and triumph over all odds and challenges he has faced, while also highlighting his achievements in the music game. The cover artwork features TapWaterz wearing a Kobe “Black Mamba” jersey, paying homage to the late basketball legend who was a significant inspiration to the artist.
The music video also showcases TapWaterz rapping inside the Lakers home area under banners bearing Kobe’s name, emphasizing the connection and contrast between sports, music, and TapWaterz’s own personal story.
“Never Take Me Out The Game” marks TapWaterz’s second release under the partnership between RAMPD RECORDS, a newly formed label for artists with disabilities, and Hip-hop mogul Steve Stoute’s UNITED MASTERS distribution platform for independent artists. This collaboration represents a milestone in the music industry and signals a new era of inclusivity and diversity in the field.
TapWaterz kicks off the narrative on “Never Take Me Out The Game” with confidence and swagger: “I’m just a paralyzed savage guy, tell the truth I tell no lies, strategies I strategize, battle tears I battle cry, what I survive most would die, dont ask me how dont ask me why, just hold your nose and close your eyes, the flow is wet and never dry, her pussy wet and never dry, she hops on top and likes to ride, her bday suit is cute and fly, she likes me in my suit and tie, I changed my heart and changed my mind, then changed the art and changed the grind, we living in some crazy times, its water yo,” he raps in the opening lines, as he unfolds the storyline. The production by Petrofsky bumps and grinds with angular keys and thumping percussion forming a fiery foundation for TapWaterz’ insistent flow and smart wordplay.
The chorus holds a melodic hook to smooth things out as TapWaterz croons: “It’s now or never man. I’m trynna come up and live this life forever man. Did dirt was young now I’m a better man. They wanna see me lose it all I told em never again, no no way no how no way I’m going back, no way no how I aint going out like that. Noooooo they never take me out the game.”
TapWaterz’s dedication to his craft and his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on society serve as an inspiration to us all. Through his music, he continues to break down barriers and defy expectations, proving that anything is possible with perseverance and determination.
